Forget "Thinking" Outside The Box…GET Outside The Box!

I happened to overhear a conversation the other day between two men…

Young man has started learning about real estate investing. He has read books and attended seminars put on by some gurus who make more money selling information about real estate investing than they do investing in real estate BUT at least he is taking the initiative to learn more. This is more than most people will do.

Old man owns his home. Young man wants to buy real estate as an investment….apartment buildings, office buildings…that type stuff. Old man has no experience in this area. During the conversation old man says to young man…"are you doing anymore of that real estate nonsense?"

By "nonsense" I know old man was referring to attending the "get r*i*c*h quick" type seminars and not a condemnation of real estate investing. BUT it came across as a condemnation of the young man's process of educating himself about something new….something that could improve his life and the lives of his family.

Unfortunately, you probably have people like that in your life. You may BE a person like that in someone else's life. People in your "box" don't want you getting out!

You know the type. Negative about any attempt you might make to improve your life…to be different…to stand out….to be more successful than they are.

I heard a great analogy for this by attending a free investment seminar. I knew this guy would be advocating some risky financial moves but I figured since I was in the seminar giving business myself, that I might be able to learn something useful. I did.

The people you associate with most are probably just like you. You have similar educational backgrounds, families and incomes.. You live in houses and drive cars of similar value. You attend the same church…your kids attend the same schools…you shop in the same stores. You get the idea.

One could say you are in the same "box" or rut.

The analogy continues...

Unfortunately, the "instructions" on how to get out of your "box" are posted on the "outside" of your "box" where you can't read them. You'll need the help of someone who has already made it out, to "read" you the instructions so you can get out too.

It's not enough to get that help though. You'll probably have to deal with your "boxmates" who would rather you stick around to keep them company in their sad little "box."

In listening to the conversation between old man and young man I immediately flashed on the image of young may starting to climb out of the box and old man reaching up and grabbing him by the belt to pull him back in.

Sad but all too common I'm sure. If any of this sounds familiar you might have some hard decisions to make.

If completely getting rid of a negative person from your life is not possible (spouse, relative, employer) then you might have to clam up about your goals, dreams and desires.
Discuss them only with people who will support you or preferably with people who have already done what you want to do.

Author Dan Kennedy has coined the phrase "mediocre majority" to describe most people. This is a group you want to avoid.

So, no matter what you want to accomplish, be it changing your life to get out of debt…starting a business…going back to school (imagine at your age!)…investing in real estate…mystery shopping…losing weight…taking piano lessons or anything else, simply get started and keep the pie hole shut! (salad hole if losing weight)

Good luck!

Own Your Paycheck Again

Learn How To Own Your Paycheck Again,
I'm writing to you about something
that's...well, kind of personal.

So please don't be upset, I'm just trying to be of help.

I'm going to introduce someone to you who can help, if
you need it, on the other end of your finances.

I've known Leo Quinn for a while now, and he has a program
that is surprisingly simple, and once you understand it, is
very easy for anyone to follow.

Basically, it shows you how to finally get control of your
personal debt, and get rid of it -- and here's what's amazing,
it can be done very quickly, no more credit card bills.
In this book he'll point out some of the more common misconceptions that are
hurting Americans every day.
Among the information that will probably surprise you is…
*A single-family home is the worst possible investment a young family can make.
*Paying off high-interest rates first can be the slowest way to get out of debt.
*Pay raises can cause more trouble than they are worth and much more.
Please keep an open mind as you read. Remember that over 95% of Americans
end up financial failures thinking the very same things you have always been
taught. I'm presenting an alternative that is mathematically sound and provable,
not just my opinion.
Before you start thinking this must be some hare-brained,
half-baked legal maneuver, let me explain.

No, it's none of that and it's way above board and like
nothing you've most likely ever seen before.

We don't look at the fifty cents jingling around in our pockets as real money.
However, fifty cents per day for 30 days is $15 and for a year is $182.50.
So yes, in fact, fifty cents IS real money and if you keep track of every penny you
spend for at least 30 days, you'll probably come up with some great ideas for
using your money more wisely.

In his book, "Don't Worry, Make Money", Richard Carlson uses the following
example: If you are now spending $7.50 a day to go to lunch and you bring a
bag lunch that only costs $2.00, you will save $5.50 per day.
If you take $27.50 per week and invest it at 8% for 30 years, you'd have almost
$100,000 invested after taxes.
Practically no one is that disciplined but it certainly puts new perspective on
those "little" expenses.
Keep a chart like the one shown in the book and at the end of 30 days you'll
have some great information about where your money is going.

Here's where to go to take a look:

I've arranged for you to get a huge discount on his program.

He's only agreed to this special deal for the next few days,
so please take a look now and see if it's right for you.

If you're not interested, that's okay...

I've been struggling for awhile and now have dedicated myself
to be totally debt free within next few years. I've heard some
of these strategies before, but they hit home. Also the easy
to use "Debt Cruncher" software shows you your progress.

Anyone who truly wants to get out debt can use this simple
strategy.

He's helped a lot of people over the years, and I just thought
you may have an interest too.

Your friend,

-Mike Sullivan

Try Search Engine Marketing Report

I'm sure you've heard the news...

First it was the Google Slap... then another... and ANOTHER.

After the carnage, thousands of Google AdWords advertisers were left licking their wounds with low Quality Score ratings.

Then, things got even WORSE...

Two months ago, the second bomb dropped.

Google released a new patent application and revealed some *scary* insights about their plans to use LSI, phrase matching and co-occurrence to automatically seek-and-destroy websites relying on natural search as well.

As you can plainly see... in 2007, the game of getting (free and paid) traffic HAS CHANGED!

Listen to this. I just got wind of this new report that dissects bit-by-bit what is happening in the world of search engine marketing (SEM).

It's VERY eye-opening and contains some great tidbits and action-ideas that you can use right away.

Go download a copy and give it a quick read.

I know that this report will get you thinking about how to better position your online business (and what specific Google-approved strategies you can use) to grab more traffic and higher rankings in the search engines in 2007.

Here is the download link:

http://www.contentcomposer.com/pdf/Profit

BTW, there is no need to opt-in or anything. Just download the report and start reading it.

I hope you benefit from it like I did.

Job Interview Mistakes Plus How to Avoid Them

Job interview mistakes, man just thinking of going on a job interview use to make my stomach turn and forget about sleep the night before, sound familiar. After all your life is on display, being picked apart and trying to show off all your qualities in front of someone who will or will not hire you. But with some education about some common job interview mistakes you can get that sleep the night before and abound with confidence as you try to land that position.

I can't stress this enough, being prepared is essential in successful interviewing. I have gone into an interview thinking I can handle anything they throw at me. But you know you get caught off guard by some easy question like, 'What are your strengths and weaknesses". Man, the first time I was asked that question I was dumb founded and it showed in my answer.
The interviewer has a system of question to get a sneak peek inside who you are and what you have to offer. After getting myself prepared I was really excited and could not wait for my next interview knowing how to increase my odds to land that position.

Similarly, no matter how long you plan to keep the job you're applying for, never let on that you might not be as permanent an employee as your potential boss may want. Watch your words carefully to avoid letting on the length of time in which you really plan to be employed by your interviewer's organization. If you're planning to stick around for a while, that's great. If not, try to minimize the potential damage without lying. Even temporary workers are expected to show some ambition in regards to their careers, and long-term employment is traditionally seen as an indicator of reliability. If your work history shows that you've been bouncing between jobs frequently, prepare some good reasons for why you've been so nomadic in regards to employment, preferably with a good, rational explanation for leaving each job, if possible.

Preparation helps eliminate job interview mistakes and is something that people often overlook. You can't go into it without some sort of a plan of action. If your resume doesn't have the best information about your work history, you'll want to have some answers to try and explain them. A little research into the organization you're trying to work for (as well as researching the person interviewing you) can go a long way. Also, if you really want to make an impression on your interviewer, bring a small list of question about the position you would like him or her to answer for you. This will show them your really interested and that you are going that extra mile, a quality all employers like.

All it takes to land the job that you've set your eyes on is some self-confidence, a little know-how and good pre-interview planning. Your interviewer will be very impressed that you know your own abilities and have done your homework.

Avoiding Job Application Mistakes

Avoiding job application mistakes can certainly quicken the hiring process. We all make mistakes at some point in our lives, and most of us learn from these errors. When you're looking for employment, it's not the time to be making mistakes, and you definitely need to be confident and sure that you're doing the right thing to land that open position you're applying for. With a little knowledge about a few big mistakes job seekers often commit, you'll increase your chances of being hired.

The first and most damning mistake a job seeker can make is to assume that simply applying for the position will be enough to get an employer's attention. These days, mass communication means that any job has a large number of applicants applying. Some employers even find themselves in the unenviable position of having to distinguish real applicants from applicants who are applying for the job in order to fulfill a requirement of a welfare program.

Knowing that there's an arduous screening process involved in filling an open position, you should always contact your potential employer via telephone, email, or if possible, in person, asking a simple question, such as whether your application was filled out correctly or if your resume was received, to show that you're interested in the job. One call, visit, or email should be enough to show that you truly do want to fill the position available.

One major mistake many people make is lying about a past job where you left on bad terms. Potential employers seem to have a sixth sense about experiences that you glossed over or were dishonest about, so it's best to try and put a positive spin on a blemish on your resume. Show that you've learned something from the experience or play up important parts of the past job, rather than trying to cover up a bitter relationship.

A mistake that's almost as bad as lying on your resume is hard-to-decipher buzzwords to highlight good points of the resume. Unless a buzzword is part of a title, it's best to find a more traditional way of phrasing your strengths. The opposite extreme of using hip, trendy words is sounding too dull and legalistic, which is something else to avoid when applying for a job. These same rules apply to cover letters as well. Ease of reading and professionalism can be hard to balance, but it's very possible, so strive to achieve that tone. It never hurts to be just a little friendly (but still professional) in your choice of words for a resume or cover letter. Slang and buzzwords are mistakes, but the right tone will go a long way.

These mistakes certainly aren't an extensive list, and there are plenty more ways of avoiding job application mistakes. However, these are the most common and glaring errors that the everyday person tends to commit. If you'd like to know more about what to do and what not to do to make yourself more attractive to a potential employer, a search on the internet will provide you with more faux-pas to avoid when looking for a job.

Job Hunting Best Story

Job hunting best story is similar to the sales profession. Most times It's who can win with the best story. Allot of times unless your boss was friends with the hiring manager, or had some embarrassing pictures of the President, they more than likely got their position from telling a great story..

Here's a great story, I know you probably heard it before, about two men out hunting . While in the jungle they happen upon a man-eating tiger that has not eaten for days. The startled hunters take off running with the tiger right on their heels. Between breathes, one hunter says to the other. "We can't out run this tiger." The other hunter replies, "I'm not worried about out running the tiger; I just have to make sure I outrun you."

Most times the hiring manager will have a stack of resumes and cover letters that he'll receive from just one ad. I'm sure allot will have better qualifications or more experience than you. You need to make sure your resume and cover letter shows your experience and strengths better than the other guy. And if you follow the ideas in this article, they will end your career search.

My credentials are better but they got the job. How did they do it? The answer is simple: They did their "homework" ahead of time. They put a little effort into the job-hunting process. Making all the pieces of their job hunting process look and feel the same with a similar style. Not only did their cover letter, resume, interview, thank you letters, and negotiating have the same style, it was the style the company was looking for. As a matter of fact, this makes the hiring company feel good to land such a fine prospect!

What does it mean to have the "best story"?
Let me define "story". The best story basically means that to the employer, you have "What it takes". A great story evolves from a well thought out job hunting system where all pieces of the "campaign" are closely aligned. You need thought, logic, study and of course practice. This is something that constantly shows up in anything and everything you write or say.

Creating a great story takes time and it takes thought. Now I know trying to put together a cover letter and resume seems to be as much fun as a root canal. But it does help to organize all your important facts and achievements. This way you can really focus on your current career search criteria. This will give you confidence, make you feel proud and will help create your story.

You have to show the hiring manager that you have a great story. So during the screening process you have to have your act together and clearly show them what exactly you are looking for, what are your skills, your greatest accomplishments and whether or not you can you help solve their problems. All this has to be done within 30 seconds.

Do you have everyone trying to help you with their "expert" advice, and you feel like shouting "just leave me alone"
Let me show you a breakthrough system that reveals amazing secrets that almost guarantees you job security.

I'd like to introduce you to Jason Adams he is the President of Street Smart Sales and Marketing and author of the highly acclaimed book The StreetSmart Job-Changing System. For more information visit JobChangingSystem.com
